We are very fortunate to be able to have the use of Middlemoor pool THIS THURSDAY ONLY (19th November) from 7-8pm, in addition to our usual 8-9pm slot. This means you can either come 7pm, or 8pm (or both!). Hopefully this will ease numbers as last week 38 of you were pounding up and down!

Please note that this is FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY as this slot is usually pre-booked by another club.

The Monday 8pm session will cease from now until further notice, hopefully re-starting at the end of the summer, or when Teignmouth sea swims finish, or numbers increase enough to warrant another session.

We are looking for members who would be interested in becoming a Triathlon coach as this years course dates are now available, I will be one of the tutors taking both courses, the courses will be run at Middlemoor Exeter.

If you pay for the level 1 course and help coach the club we will then pay for your level 2 course.

In the near future I think club coaches should be paid for the coaching as without then the club would not be as good as it is, at the moment they coach on a volunteer ...

Is anyone planning to go for a 2 hr + ride this weekend? All my usual group are racing in various places, and although I can ride alone, longer rides are much easier in company!

My average speed tends to be around 15mph, so I'm not really quick......

So if anyone is planning a group ride, and don't mind another tagging along, maybe I can join you?

Cheers

Mike Davis (Torbay Tri) and Dave Pressley are putting on an extra swim sesison this Saturday (13th June 2009) for anyone from both clubs to swim somewhere different.

Meet 10.00 a.m. on Meadfoot Beach.

There is a large car park, plus some roadside car parking.

We will be doing a long swim (no lifeguards) followed by a 5k (or so) run along the coastal footpath.

If this venue is successful we might use it for an Aquathlon Training Event later in the summer.

Damsel in Distress!!!

I'd like to come club swimming on Thursday evening but I'm only just getting a car pass sorted out, and it's not going to be here before then.

Is anybody passing though Heavitree (Tesco metro area) that has a spare place in their car to give me a lift???

I would run but I'll only be getting home at about 7:15pm, which gives me just enough time to do a quick turnaround and get out the door again in time to zip up there in a car.

Thanks!

It has been suggested that the second hour session at M/moor on Mondays (8-9pm) might include some more specific technique work.

With this in mind, I thought some of the things we could work on are: Touch Turns, Tumble Turns, specific Drill Work (to ensure everyone is doing them correctly and understands what they are for), Speed Sets (for fast starts/finishes in races), and anything else you'd like to work on (let me know).

There will still be opportunity to swim the usual training ...

T20 next Monday (30th) and Thursday (2nd) for ALL swimmers!

For those who’ve not done this before, it’s a timed swim for 20 mins swimming as many lengths as you can, at maximum even pace. From this I will work out your aerobic threshold training time, and you can then use this time in the next training sets.

For those who swam 4 weeks ago, this is your chance to improve on that distance, and decrease your training time – so you work harder and get better (that’s the theory ...

Hi

Mondays pool sessions at Middlemoor have been getting close to capacity recently (36 swimmers), and I am very pleased to be able to offer swimmers the chance of either swimming a) 7-8pm, b) 8-9pm, or c) both (7-9pm) on Mondays. This will mean that we do not have to turn people away, and you all have enough room in the lanes to swim (max 6 per lane). It will still cost just £1 per hour - so £2 if you intend doing 2 hours.

Those who stay for 2 hours can either repeat the same set ...

Hi

Please note that there will be NO swim training on Bank Holiday Easter Monday.

Do you want to continue training throughout the rest of holidays, or do you want to have a break? I am free and happy to come in if that's what you want.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Karenx

Hi

All the replies I've had indicate you'd like to swim over Easter!!

Therefore, we will only stop for Bank Holiday, Easter Monday, but swim all other sessions as usual.

Happy Easter!
