Pyramids, Exeter, have offered us the following session: Thursdays, 6.30am-7.30am. cheers

They need to give the public 4 wks notice of the change to their timetable, then we can start. This session will be open to all adult ETC members, and can also be used as a trial session for non-members who wish to come along and see what we offer. Sessions will cost the usual £2 (£3 for non-members).

Watch this space for confirmation of start date - and set your alarms nice and early! Sleep

We are also in negotiations with the West of England School, Topsham Road, Exeter, and hoping to offer a Junior Swim session on Mondays at 5-6pm. Cost will again be £2, and the session will be specifically geared towards our 8-13 yr old junior tri club members. There will probably be at least one lane available for any parents or adult members who wish to participate in an uncoached swim while juniors use the pool (note: pool temperature is 30-31 degrees sunny ). Please note: All swimmers should be able to swim 50 metres for their own safety and enjoyment, as these sessions are NOT swimming lessons, but are triathlon-specific junior training workouts.

Again, watch this space for further details as soon as they have been confirmed. bounce

Just to briefly update you:

Pyramids have said Exeter City Council have 'changed its view and have said ‘no’ to any further club use of the pool at Pyramids even at very off peak times'.

West of England are currently asking for a ridiculous amount of money to hire their pool and I am trying to negotiate a more reasonable sum.

Cornwall House Pool, Exeter University, have approached me and asked if we'd be interesting in using their pool during the summer months again (May-October), I have indicated that this may be a possibility if the terms were favourable. It may also be possible to hire a lane from them to do private swim coaching, which I have done in previous years and was very popular with members.

I will continue to keep you updated. In the meantime, please keep your fingers crossed, and bear with us whilst we try to accommodate as many of you as possible at the MM sessions.

PYRAMIDS

I have just heard back from Pyramids and have been told:

'there is now in effect a veto on any further ‘block bookings’ of any sort at Pyramids and this includes part and full pool hire'

The pool manager has tried to persuade Exeter City Council otherwise but their stance is firm and he therefore cannot accept our request.

So we CANNOT train early mornings at Pyramids for the foreseeable future Crying or Very sad

I await a reply from WofE, and will keep you informed.
