RNLI Castle to Castle Swim / St Mawes 10km Run (Sunday 6 June 2010)
Another date for your diary - Castle Swim and St Mawes 10km Cross Country Run events, both of which will be held Sunday 6 June to raise money fro the RNLI's South West Lifeguard Appeal.
The Castle to Castle Swim is a 1 mile Open Water Swim held between Pendennis Point and St Mawes Castle and offers a unique opportunity to cross this major estuary under controlled circumstances, with the swim taking place at 12.30pm to coincide with slack water. All entrants must be capable of swimming at least one mile in open water and guarantee to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship for the RNLI (all competitors must wear a wet suit) - sponsorship forms are provided.
The St Mawes 10km Cross Country Run starts at 3pm and follows the coastal footpath from St Mawes to St Just in Roseland before climbing up over the peninsula and back down to the Percuil River before heading back into St Mawes and the finish line at St Mawes Harbour. Although this is a coastal run it does rise to a height of 200ft as it crosses over the peninsula before dropping back down to sea level. All entrants must guarantee to raise a minimum of £20 sponsorship for the RNLI’s South West Lifeguard Appeal – sponsorship forms are provided.
Entrants for the Castle to Castle Swim will automatically get free entry to the St Mawes 10km Cross Country Run and will have the choice of completing it immediately after their swim or joining the mass start at 3pm.
Entry forms for both events can be obtained from Dave Nicoll (RNLI Area Fundraising Manager) at cornwall@rnli.org.uk or by telephoning 01326 210008
