help needed with tri bars

Hi
I recently bought a set of tri bars for my road bike and need some help setting up the bike as best as can be expected. It's not ideal but can't stretch to a tri bike. I am doing an Olympic on may 19 so want to see if they make difference but the main reason is for IMUK 70.3 in June. Just wanted the option of the extra position on the flat.
I am in Exmouth but can get to Exeter no problem, any help would be appreciated.
